No-exam life insurance

Accelerated underwriting: who qualifies, the mechanics, and the process if you don't meet the requirements.

Numerous carriers provide expedited underwriting: applicants meeting specific criteria on age and coverage quantity get decisions based on answers, prescription records, driving history and other databases instead of an exam. Some determinations are made within hours. Each option shown here notes whether an exam is mandatory, conditional, or not needed.

What it changes

Going without an exam is not the same as bypassing underwriting. The carrier verifies your responses, and if a policy was written using inaccurate facts, the carrier may challenge it within the initial two years. Should the carrier's databases prompt questions, they may ask for medical assessment or testing; you retain the option to proceed or withdraw.

Who tends to qualify

Candidates below roughly sixty seeking amounts up to the carrier's quick-track limit, with no significant medical background and no cigarette use within the prior year or more typically qualify. Recent bloodwork from a physician visit may be substituted for an exam by some carriers.

Should a medical assessment be necessary, a trained paramedical specialist visits you at your La Quinta residence or workplace for approximately twenty to thirty minutes, entirely at no charge to you. For many applicants in good health, examination results frequently produce a better rate class, making the exam a potential advantage rather than a burden.
